Thai Foot Massage

This popular therapy practised throughout Thailand, originated in India where massage has a long history, stemming from Ayurvedic and Buddhist healing traditions; and was influenced by ancient Chinese reflexology systems.

This relaxing, yet energising treatment of the feet and lower legs is a combination of massage, stretches and stimulation.

In Thai Medicine, invisible energy lines known as ‘Sen’ run throughout the body, with specific points ending at the feet. The obstruction of this energy flow is thought to be the cause of discomfort and illness.

Various parts of the hands and a shaped wooden stick are used to ‘open up’ and stimulate the Sen lines and reflex points in the feet, which in turn, balance and harmonise the flow of energy throughout the body.

This treatment is useful for people who spend long periods on their feet.

Please wear appropriate clothing for working on the lower half of the legs, up to the knees.

The benefits

The technique stimulates the internal organs and improves blood and lymph circulation in the body, with the overall effect of leaving the recipient feeling relaxed, balanced and invigorated.
